Give each one a small tug and pull make sure they are all tight and clean then see where you are at.

If your 96 TXT has the original OEM wires they are past the end of their service life. A nice set of 4g welding cables with nice copper lugs would be a great idea.

If your 6 batteries have 3 water holes in them, they are 6v batteries.
If they have 4 water holes in them they are 8v.

Solenoid getting warm is completely normal as it is a continous duty contactor and ALL of the energy from the pack passes through it when the pedal is depressed. Just how hot are we talking about?

if your cart hasn,t been modified it should be a 36 volt cart but as mentioned count water fill caps....3=36 volt 4=48 volt.......don,t be real surprised if you find a few of each i find this all the time people just mixing and matching..................if so i would correct it................................

Before you replace the solenoid, consider if you want to go to 48 volts. I replaced my solenoid with an heavy duty 36v and then upgraded the cart to 48v. This causes some wiring issues that you should be aware of.
