Brake issue

Wife let the neighbor boy use the cart while I was out of town. Came back with dirt and grass all over, not an issue. Now , when brakes are applied, pedal goes down and immediately locks up the rear brakes. REALLY BAD !. Club Car 2003 as pictured. Where to start?

look under the cart at the brake pedal assembly and the cables for debris or bent/broken parts. Also by the drums where cables attach. I'd start there. sound like something is gorked (a technical term).

Checked all of this, no obvious issues. Tried to remove RR wheel, cant get it off because one of the studs is spinning in the hub. I only have hand tools, is there any way or "trick" to getting this off? Trying to stay out of the local shop if possible.

florida cracker, do you meat you cant get the lug nut off because stud spins in drum? if so try taking all other lugs off and then taking bar and prying in back of wheel between drum and turning lug nut. the pressure may pull stud into drum and allow lug nut to break free

remove the three lug nuts that will come off, then using some type of prybar, wedge between the rim and brake drum while using a air impact, if that does not work, then you can get a sawzall in there and cut the wheel stud, most of the time you don't need to go all the way through, as at some point it will twist off using the air impact, or use a cutting tourch and cut it between the brake drum and rim

also, once you get the old stud out, and go to replace it, if the new one spins in the axle and wont grab, you can put a couple small tac welds on the back of the stud to the axle, and do not use a 1/2" air impact to put you lugs back on, that's probly what started your problem

I had a similar brake problem with my 97 48V, you could just "touch" the brake pedal and the brakes locked up until it almost came to a stop!
I found that after "a bit" of off-roading, the axle U-bolts stretched a little, and loosened up, causing the whole axle to twist, pulling on the brake cables,
I loosened, then retightened the U-bolts back up evenly, and it fixed my "lock up" problem!

Just something to check since it sounds like the neighbor boy took it off road!

Yep that's where I was going. Def righted the u bolts. Sounds like axle twist

Great advice all..... A question? Could it be related to brake pedal adjustment? I have checked all of the above. Thanks !
