RXV Complete Rear End (Diff) Replacement
I've been thinking about replacing axles and bearings on my 2008 RXV. Splines are worn and there is the RXV noise that near everyone complains about. I was getting parts and prices and saw EZGO has a complete RXV light duty 16.99:1 rear end for $1166 minus 20% sale.
I have no idea how much labor there would be. I'm not sure in what order but the motor would come off and the springs and rear end would be unbolted and removed. Are there any major problems with doing a rear end swap? |

Re: RXV Complete Rear End (Diff) Replacement
I replaced mine because of severe whine with a used one found on ebay. Also did a lift at the same time. Pretty easy, disconnect battery wires, remove wheels, open rear access cover, remove the motor do not disconnect wires from motor. Place motor in bag well. disconnect diff assy from leaf springs, slide out. install replacement unit and reinstall everything. Took about an hour. I doubt axel spines are worn, probably can get by with new hubs and replace main input bearings and seals.

Sarge
Thanks for the info. I was not sure how to deal with the motor but now I know. |

Re: RXV Complete Rear End (Diff) Replacement
90% of your rear axle assembly is perfectly fine and doesn't need replacing. If it was me I would just install all new bearings throughout for less then 1/4 of what you are about to spend. Of course you would need some mechanical skills and a press.
