Hot Motor + Smell (400amp Curtis)
Hi all,
I had been having problems with my cart shutting down after rolling at about 3-5 mph for about 20minutes. I never checked how hot the controller was, but the motor was usually 200+ degrees F when it stopped. I would stop for about 10 minutes and could go again. Decided that something was wrong with the controller, and had it repaired and upgraded to 400 amps (M#:1510). Also upgraded all the cables to #2 with good welding cable. Also installed a 200amp solenoid from scotty. Stock motor. Now after driving the cart for about 20 minutes with 350lbs, it has stopped a couple times, but would take off again: *controller is 133F taken from the serial # sticker *motor is ranging from 208F - 270F depending where the temperature is taken on the motor case. *solenoid is 108F *the white cable is hotter than the green, you can touch the white for a few seconds without any real problem *all battery cables are cool and tight *brakes not dragging I can definitely smell something getting hot/borderline burning? smell. I'm just at a lost for whats going on. I'm wondering if my motor is shot and has been the problem the whole time. 2002 IQ 2016 Trojans 50.8v 20" tires I appreciate any help! |
