Default Auxiliary Battery?

Hey i just purchased lights and a turn signal kit for my 1991 electric marathon. I want to install an auxiliary battery to work these and a radio in the future. What kind of battery should i purchase? and what else do I need?

Could this be a trolling motor battery?

Doesn't have to be deep cycle. Any 12v SLA motorcycle battery, or car battery, will work. Deep cycle or not.

So is there a benefit to deep cycle or not?

It was explained to me that a regular battery would not handle the long draw that lights, radios, etc would put on it, the deep cycle can handle the long draws. I put mine in, went to the beach for a week, runing radio through out the day, head lights tail lights and LED groung effect lights at night, and never charged the battery. I've charged it one time since July 4th week, and still running on the same charge. Went to auto zone and bought a marine deep cycle for bout $85. One of the best things I've done to my cart.

If you can get deep cycle, try, I am just saying it doesn't have to be. With a non-deep cycle, it weighs about 45 pounds less and costs less as well.

Will you be wiring this into your other batteries? If so, I think that is a bad idea, and you will have to buy more parts for 48v. Keep it wired separately, and buy a "Battery Tender" 12 volt charger, and you're set.

I came off my battery into a fuse block, then out to the accessories. then ground everything back to that battery. I used all new switches for the lights, and the radio is wired normally...amp and subwoofer are going in this spring
