stuck motor removal?
I’m trying to get the stock Hitachi motor out of a 2007 YDRE. In the past whenever I’ve removed motors I’ve encountered the issue where I can get the motor to spin but not slide off the shaft. This time I can’t even get the motor to spin. I’ve removed 3 mounting bolts. (The 4th one wasn’t there for some reason.) The motor acts like it is still bolted in place.
I’d really rather not go through the hassle of taking the whole transaxle/motor assembly out of the cart, so I’m looking for words of wisdom from anyone who has experienced this before. One thought would be to put the controller and solenoid back in the cart and then chock the wheels and tap the accelerator. Seems like that might lead to me winning a Darwin Award. I’m hoping some of you have some better ideas. TJ |

Re: stuck motor removal?
Did you make sure it wasn't just the head broken off that 4th bolt?

Re: stuck motor removal?
Very few actually had the 4th bolt. Take a large hammer and lightly tap the handle against the motor housing (holding the hammer like a "T"). The "locating ring" on the team axle is quite tight with stock motor.

This sucker is really on there. What's the next step? PB Blaster? Torch? Both? Hahahahah.
What about putting mounting bolts back in loose and then hammering on them? TJ |

Re: stuck motor removal?
Put a strap around it, and use that to jiggle and pull while using a pry bar. Make sure not to bend anything...

Re: stuck motor removal?
bsa maybe bar on motor, then wrap it with a ratchet strap so you can use the bar as an extension of the motor for leverage.
