fe290 won't spark
Okay.....I put an unknown fe290 in an unknown 01 carryall ....no spark
Motor was sold to me running .... It arrived and I threw it in a carryall I have never seen run... I know the bottom micro switch controls the spark from the little black box .... That micro was hot with the key on and open with the gas peddle depressed .... I think this is backwards.....I went out to get a known good solenoid (old one broke) and when I returned I found I had left the 12v test light connected and the dogs had melted it....(always blame the dogs) What do you guys suggest? |

Re: fe290 won't spark
Looking at my wiring diagram, that micro should be a NO (normally open)
which tells me that it should be working the way it is on your cart, Remove the black wire on the switch, and try it again, it might try to idle, just turn your key off! If still no spark, check the bullet connections at the limiter and coil... you might have a loose connector there! |

Re: fe290 won't spark
1st thing
The problem is ther are so many unknowns here... unknown motor, unknown cart.... Put them together and no spark so we start with the ignition system.....power in and out of the micro switches..... power to the funny black boxes? What the heck are they? |

Re: fe290 won't spark
Scotty, I'm thinking that if you unplug the wire that comes from the cart harness that goes to the coil that will remove the kill circuit from the motor and tell you if it is a cart or motor problem.
That kill circuit and lower micro should not be hot, it's just a grounding circuit for killing the coil. |
