Shorter belt ?
I have been reading the EZ-Go section (for a friend) that a shorter drive belt would give them more torque. Will this work for Club Car too? This sounds like it would pull the belt down into the driven clutch sooner which would defend the process.
If it would work what belt would I need for a Club Car? I have the driven clutch spring and my cart did an amazing thing by pulling my wave runner up the hill. However I had to have my daughter drive while I tried to run my fat a__ behind it and pushed in a few places. People were trying to high five me afterwards but I was sucking so much air it was more like a low five. Just need that last little more torque because I can't be doing that again. Please let me know - thanks |

Re: Shorter belt ?
Shorter belts hold the clutches at a lower gear ratio a little longer. Thats the cheapest torque mod that you can do. I don't know the CC info, but someone else may, might need to know the year and existing belt size....................... Where's the CC guy?
May try search "short belts" or like that. |

Re: Shorter belt ?
Thanks Tonyton! I have a 1995 Club Car with no idea of what belt I have or what I would need.

Re: Shorter belt ?
Better than a short belt is a phone call to Tom a CPP ( site sponsor ) and ask about having the driven clutch machined to create an new lower gear than what you have now.... This is the best bang for the buck... I know, he did it for one of mine.... Have him put the power spring in too. You will not be disappointed in this little mod

Re: Shorter belt ?
Scotty, my cart is 3+ hours away and I don't get that many chances to work on it. This past spring, I brought it home and finally gave it the make over it deserved. While home, I did pay a dealer to put the heavier spring in. After reading many of the threads about the clutch I had a fear about doing this myself. I have a tendancy to break something the first time and then go "oh that's what you're not suppose to do".
I might get the courage up at some point of removing it and ship it off while home but the shorter belt sounded like something where I could take it down with me and test it out while there. It wouldn't hurt to do both. What size belt would you need to order and is there one available for Club Cars? |

Yes it does hurt to do both... you want one or the other.... I don't know which belt you need .... you have to read thru thr whole shorter belt thing to find it. I'm pretty darn sure it is there....

Re: Shorter belt ?
Me and search - not have way. I searched through the shorter belt stuff before I started this and did not see anything on the Club Car usage. I searched it again after your post and I still haven't found any details on the belt needed for Club Cars.
