club car spark problem
Here's a good one for you..... I am working on a '95 gas club car. I was having a problem with gas filling up the cylinder and seizing up. We cleaned the carb, and it happened again...we bought a new carb and when I went to test the cart...no spark. I have run into the problem with limiters and igniters in the past, so to test this issue here is what I tried. I put the limiter and igniter onto a '96 club car that apparently does not use the limiter (little silver box). I hooked it up accordingly.... It ran fine.... so good...it's not he igniter. I then took the limiter and igniter from the non running cart and put it on another '95 cart....it did not work...so signs point to limiter....I then took the working limiter and igniter from the other '95 cart, and put it onto my cart it does not work....?! So now I am stumped....I apparently have a broken limiter (silver box) and another problem.....I am using a new spark plug....tried two different new ones.....I can get it to spark occasionally if I flick the micro switch in the control box and only while I constantly flick the micro switch....I hooked the micro switch up to the other set of wires, (to the starter) and I could not get the micro switch to fail...so I dont' think it is the micro switch. Could my problem be with the flywheel (stator ?)....could this problem be caused by the flooding in the cylinder? The client would use the cart until it siezes......I am stuck...any help would be great. (sorry if this is confusing....Imagine how I feel ;)

Re: club car spark problem
Yeah that was hard to follow. I would put orginal parts back in the cart and try eliminating the kill circuit in the cart from the motor by unhooking the black/white wire by the dipstick. Then see if you have spark. Engine should run and won't kill until you starve it for gas.
By the way, the igniter is the little silver box and the larger black one is the rev limiter. The gas filling up the cylinder was most likely either a sticky needle and seat valve in the carb bowl or a leaking float. |
