Batt voltage to low for charger to turn on - G22
A friend has a Yamaha G22 and he let the batteries run down to far before plugging in. The total pack voltage is below 44 volts with each battery at about 7.3 volts. How do you safely raise the voltage on 8 volt batteries enough to get the charger to turn on?
Should I use a 12 volt battery charger for a short period of time to bring it up enough? Thanks! |

Yes on the 12v charger, 20 minutes on each should do it. Use a 10 amp setting if you have one.

I thank you too, Gman! I always recommended to charge 2 batteries at a time with a 12 volt charger. We normally force charge the set with a "jumper lead" and a timer 36 volt charger, till 44+ volts were acheived. I like your plan better

Re: Batt voltage to low for charger to turn on - G22
Just an update, I charged the batteries up with a 12 volt charger until the pack was about 45 volts. The 48 volt charger still wouldn't turn on so then I started looking for additional problems. I checked the charger recepticle in the cart's body and it was getting voltage to it. Then I noticed the charger recepticle was actually bent in too far for a proper connection to be made. I straitened the bracket and its charging!
