Wiring size question
I attempted to use three 12V batteries to run my cart. I used #6 AWG from battery to battery for 36V. I have determined that this was a bad decision and have purchased the six 6V batteries I should have bought from the beginning. Now the question is, can I use the #6 wire or should I go to something heavier like #4 AWG. I can't find a calculation for DC to tell me with 200A/H batteries what is needed. I've got plenty of #6 but I'm skeptical about whether or not it will become hot with continuous use.

Re: Wiring size question
I would go no smaller then 4 I am using 1 gauge welding cable for mine. No issue with amp loss that way!
Good luck! curious to see the pics of the progress |

Re: Wiring size question
same gauge as regular wire. welding cable just has more strands. More strands, less loss better flexibility and disbursement.

Re: Wiring size question
THHN or THNN all that is AC wire. ( high voltage - low amperage)
Welding cable is specifically designed for high amperage use. Comes in many gauges. 4g and 2g seem to fit most all golf cart applications |
