Default New Batteries and cables, but performance is really bad.

I have a 36v medalist that I just put new batteries in. Also put new cables, but the performance is actually worse than with my old 7 year old bulging batteries.
I just put them in, charged them the same as I would have charged my old ones. I have done a couple of rounds of golf and my battery gauge drops done to zero, under load, within the first 10 minutes.
So I have charged them a few times now and after 24 hrs sitting, each battery measures 6.3 volts, one measures 6.2 volts. Total pack voltage is 38.2 volts.
I hooked up the multimeter and watched the voltage drop at full pedal press. On flat level ground the voltage drops straight away to 33.3 volts.
The story on the batteries that I installed goes like this..... My employer owed me a bonus for saving their bacon over the Christmas work period when they couldn't get anyone else to do the work. He asked me what they could do for me and I told him I needed a new set of batteries for my golf cart. He said, no worries, what do you need? I said I need 6 Trojan T105 batteries.
After 2 months waiting, he tells me that my batteries are here to pick up.
You guessed it, not Trojans! They look exactly the same, even the same colour, but the label on them calls them Tubular Plate GC2TP-225.
I am just checking to see if there is something I am meant to do with an initial charge, before I get back to him and tell him that they are crap!
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

you may have a single battery that is bad....even though it shows good, but under load it fails...….SOOOOOO load test each battery. if that shows that they are all good, look elsewhere. double check every connection.

Thanks for the replies, how do I load test each battery separately?

I think you hook your voltmeter to the + and - of the single battery you wish to test, then drive out and see what happens to the voltage. Do for each one like this.

Give it a hill to climb, to really "load" the batteries. Passengers also "help".

Read up on how to break in new batteries at cartsunlimited.net. You should also get a real volt meter.

When you say a real voltmeter, isn't a multimeter good enough?

What are the specs on new batteries ? Same as Trojans you took out so charger settings are the same to fully charge batteries? Are they spec deep cycle golf cart batteries?
What’s the date code on battery post?
Load test with volt meter (multi meter) each battery under load as said, Might have 1 bad battery dragging down entire pack.
Personally never heard of that brand battery.
Throwing out a couple of checks you can do but does sound like battery problem.

If you are going to load test, start out by load testing the entire pack first. Record your static pack voltage and then the voltage under a load (best by going up a hill at a constant speed) and record the loaded pack voltage. The difference will be the pack voltage drop.

Then repeat the load test with each individual battery connected to your multi-meter to see if any individual batteries are dropping in voltage more than the others. You can occasionally get a bad battery which will affect the entire battery pack since they are wired in series.
