Rear Axle bearing question
I have a grinding noise coming from my rear axle. I've changed several bearings in the past and figured it was time for some fresh bearings.
Took the driver side rear axle out and the bearing just slid right off with no resistance. The new bearing does the same, just slides right on. I assume this is where the noise is coming from as the bearing and axle appear in good shape. Also assume I need a new axle rod where the bearing needs to be pressed on as usual. I figure I've answered my own question but just want some assurance from the experts. Thanks as always. |

You need a new axle and bearing.

Re: Rear Axle bearing question
Roger that. Thanks for the reassurance.
Luckily I had an old 88 marathon parts cart out back with the same axle. Swapped it out real quick, added a new bearing/seals and noise gone!!! If this were always easy everyone would do it, right? |
