There are solar panels for golf carts out there that give out about 6 amps at 50 volts. The idea behind buying one of those is not to save money though... People shouldn't buy hybrid cars then. With 40k I would buy gas for the next 30 years driving an old clunker. It's more like a statement of being enviromentally friendly and pushing the technology forward.

Some of the information on this thread is true, some not. Home Power Magazine will show some ads that sell panels for app. $2.oo a watt . A 36 volt controller is $150.00 . I am very happy with my homemade rack and 3 120 watt panels. If you live in Alaska or Wisconson or some place that does not get alot of sun you wont be able to rely on solar entirely, California, Arizona, Florida, Baja yes no plug-in. I dont mean you will be able to drive drive forever (It still 200 watt-hour per mile). How many miles do we drive per week?
