run time/ how much do I really need?
Good evening folks:
I have seen all kinds of posts here but the one thing I cant seem to find is "run time". I know there are so many variables. But what is the average for a stock cart and what would you all suggest for my build? I want to go to 48 volts because I have been given a stripped out cart and I have to build from the ground up anyway. I will just be running it around my campground for the most part, but I might want to take it out hunting as well. I am looking at plumbquick, but I dont know what would be right for me...any suggestions? Thanks in advance |

48v with 400amp controller you will use about 280amps per hour. That depends on load & how heavy your foot is. But add up the amp/hours of your batteries & you will get an idea.
Eight 6v batteries are going to give you about 25% more runtime then six 8v batteries. Ross |

Re: run time/ how much do I really need?
Mike's seems to have the best prices on a Curtis PB-6 & 400amp controller. But that's $400+. Batteries on the average are $100 each & alittle more if you don't have a trade-in. And you'll need the 4 gauge wire & terminals to make up your cables. Upgraded FNR switch too as well as 48v charger.
As per motor, if there isn't one in it I suggest installing a used stock 2HP to start with. Plenty of stock motors to be had for about $75 & that motor is worth $100 if you send it to one of the companies for an upgrade. HH |
