Re: Brand new battery melted a terminal?
I have also seen an internal coroded battery cable cause the same thing. I always replace the battery cables when a cart gets new BATTS.
YES check them once a mth or sooner. they will loosen over time. Charge/discharge casues heat so just the heat temp will loosen them. |

Re: Brand new battery melted a terminal?
Thanks for the input team. Just to clarify, the post cast was done in a very well equipped workshop. At no time was safety compromised (see first post). Battery was on a bench, top cover smotherd in foam, mold set in place and molten lead poured around the 5/16 bolt that the battery came with. Our main concern was that without heat applied to the host connection (the remains of the sheared post), we would probably end up with a cold joint. Guesstimate that we have ~ 30 % lead weld, hence the "green". Thanks to you guys this will be bypassed by tapping into the other side of the post and using a 5/16 stud to connect the battery cable to. BTW, we used a JSA to map out how to do this job, after hours. I am sure you people have similar pre task checks as well. ( Job Safety Analysis). Thanks for your input all.
