I took the plunge, E-Z-GO TXT
Well, i bought my first golf cart today from an elderly lady. It looks like new. The only problem is that all the batteries are dry as a bone. It's been sitting for a long time. I am looking into the battery saga for info as far as what types and kinds are available.
I have heard that the electric carts controller can be programmed for different max speeds. IS this true for all or just some or just flat out false ? Thanks guys! |

Welcome to the site
Always tell the year/model of your golf car when asking questions Some controlers have a four term (in line) that have a plug that will change the speed/power of the car. No wires ,,goes golf course speed wires that come out and back in in different order,,, better speed or power |

The last 2 digits of the manufacture code in the passenger glove box tell the year of the cart. and the chart below tells how to ID the drive system. With that info we can answer your question.

Thanks, according to the serial number mine is a '87.
The backside of the F/R switch looks nothing like whats in that photo. There is a rod from the back of the switch to the passenger side which goes under a covered box. |

I think there was a communications breakdown somewhere.
The F/R switch description doesn't match up with a 87 EZGO. Try this: Enter the serial number in this website and it'll tell you what the cart was when it rolled out of the factory. http://www.shopezgo.com/customer-ser...ialNumber.html |

Re: I took the plunge, E-Z-GO TXT
Can you post the Manufacture code? If you look under the cover you will see a rotary F&R like the one shown in the second from thee the top in the left hand column. Your cart is a series drive but, not a 1987

You most likely have a Medalist. It is linked to a set of contacts and beeper for the DCS controller.

It apears that you have a 2002. the third pic shows a controler cover. remove it and look at the controler.

Re: I took the plunge, E-Z-GO TXT
WELCOME!!! For increase speed/performance on this cart, you will have to upgrade the controller. Most people on here use Alltrax as their upgrade manufacture choice. Matter of fact, I am getting ready to do a Alltrax DCX400 upgrade. Just FYI. You would most likely need a AXE model for you to do an upgrade.
