AH meter load point

I have my AH meter installed in my cart and want to do the wiring. Seems pretty straight forward but I have a question on where you guys would grab the load side from? Pics attached of the meter and the instructions; thank you!!!

You also need a 75mv shunt that can handle the maximum current You want to measure connected to terminals #9 and #10.

That meter by itself can only handle up to 5 amps on the terminal #7.

Went out again and looked at the instructions and unless I am reading this wrong it appears that I can adjust this up to 75mv on the unit; am I on crack?

That is a nice AH meter that includes a couple of relays to disable the cart or turn on a warning light when the pack is getting low.

It does have a more complex setup to get everything working.

The high current shunt gets mounted near the battery pack negative terminal.

Everything that you have currently connected to the pack negative gets connected to one side of the shunt (called the load side).

The other side of the shunt gets a single cable to pack negative (called the battery side).

You then run two small gauge wires (18ga-16ga) to the small screws on the body of the shunt.

The screw on the battery side goes to meter terminal #10 (COM).

The screw on the load side goes to meter terminal #9 (75mv).

You also need a 16ga gauge wire from meter terminal #6 (100V input) to the pack positive battery post.

You need to program the meter for the type of current input. 75mv in your case.

You also need to program the meter to the max current, 500amps or 400amps, depending on the shunt size you buy.

Keep in mind the larger the shunt the smaller the resolution since in either case you only have a scale of 75mv so a 400amp shunt gives you 20% more resolution than a 500amps shunt.

You need to program the meter for the voltage input used, 100V in your case.

You can look at Amazon for different shunts, some have a mounting base and others you need to make your own.

This 500amp comes with a mounting base but uses M10 bolts (3/8") so keep that in mind if your are making your own cables.

You can set it up to only display the current and voltage for now as you study the other settings.

Wanted to post a quick follow up as I had some time to go out and work on this today. AH meter is fully installed, shunt arrived and has been mounted and wiring is complete (I have not hooked up any of the the relays yet but plan to). I think that I am just one wire away from finally getting this thing to move (I ordered a battery cable today for the positive side as I didn't have anything long enough).

Thought I'd post a few pics to prove I've gotten this far!

I have learned a ton doing this (and still have a ton to keep learning), but I am pretty happy with how it is turning out.
