Rpm limiter bypass
After plenty of money and swearing, I have finally diagnosed my 93 club car with a faulty rpm limiter. I have replaced almost everything imaginable including - starter/generator, selanoid, all microswitches, battery, coil, ignitor, spark plugs and fuel filters. Anyway, while running and startup, tends to cut out and wasn't getting spark - thus ignitor replacement (today). After replacing ignitor and accidently bumping rpm limiter, I have discovered this was the problem all along (3 years now - how frustrating, expensive and before becoming member of bgw.)
I disconnected groud wire from limiter and runs excellent. Is it OK to bypass this limiter long or short term? Or should I keep my eye out for new one on ebay? (cheapest on ebay today was $240.) |

Re: Rpm limiter bypass
I disconnected the ground wire years ago and have had no problems since. If you have increased the speed by adjusting the govner, you might over rev the engine. I have a 92 CC that had those problems I found part of the problem was the throtle valve in the carberator. The housing was severly warn. Hope this is of some help.

You'll be fine with the limiter disabled, as long as you don't / didn't adjust the govenor! and B.o.b... it's all right there in the "Stickies" that the top of the main "Gas CC" page! |

Re: Rpm limiter bypass
It should be a brown wire bolted to the rev limiter bracket with a 10mm bolt, I usually tape up the end and wire tie it to the wires at the limiter.

Re: Rpm limiter bypass
Thanks, Rick
What can I expect from doing it? My buddy zip-tied the governor and it went from 11mph to 20mph but kept bouncing off of the rev-limiter... so I cut the zip tie |
