Of course, it could also be that there was plenty of oil, but your leaking crank seals allowed air in making the engine lean. Also, all the crud that was around the fan can't help engine cooling, and air cooled engines tend to run hot anyway. 400+ degrees is not unheard of in an air cooled engine.

Rings seemed fine it wasn't until I cleaned up that I noticed the piston crack... Basically all my focus is getting flywheel off and fan and then clutch. Cylinder wall has a burr.

Really thought the rings would be binding. Anyway, are you using the oil injector pump? Seems a lot of people don't trust them, and prefer to mix oil with the gas. It would seem to me that would be the best choice for a consistent mixture. I would also run a little fat on the oil. A friend built a cart, and set the engine to 0 deck, giving it more squeeze, and he was running 60:1 oil to fuel. that is about double what is suggested for stock. He never had an issue with fouling plugs or anything else. I would rather err on the fat side than thin. Also, make sure your seals are good. I toasted a snowmobile motor that way once. Ran real well for a few seconds, then, not at all!
