Default RXV will not completely turn over to start

I have 2009 RXV cart. When trying to start it, the drive clutch will only make a partial rotation and stops. The starter will spin it to a point then the drive clutch stops. The starter and the driven clutch rotate by hand with no problem. I cannot fully rotate the drive clutch by hand. New battery, new solenoid. Checked starter with ohm meter and all readings were correct. My son turned the cart over on it's side just before the problem started. Should I be able to rotate the drive clutch by hand?? Any ideas on what's going on??

Thanks, Lee

Does it lock up firm (like broken parts), or just up against the compression of the motor.

You should be able to rotate the engine via drive clutch completely by hand. If you can't, you have a problem.

I think when your son turned cart on its side, the cylinders were filled with oil, oil will not compress. Remove spark plugs and turn over motor with starter, should blow oil out,you may want rags handy for clean-up.

That's a good point Jeff.. Could be hydraulically locked up.

Will be the Kawasaki motor so should just have the one plug up front.. Like was said, spin it by hand first to see if it will then go 360. If so be prepared for the mess..

Success!! The cylinder was full of oil!! After taking the spark plug out I could fully rotate the clutch. Really messy -- quite a bit of oil in there. Ran the starter several times and blew out all the oil I could. Cleaned the spark plug several times. Finally got the engine to fire with a little starter fluid. Lots of smoke once it finally started. After a few minutes running the smoke finally cleared. Seems to be running fine now.

This is a great site with alot of good info!

Thanks guys for all your help! I appreciate it!

Excellent. I would go ahead and change the plug. May not really need it but spend the $5.
