Jakes 4" A arm lift question
I am replacing an all sports 3" A Arm lift with a Jakes 4" A Arm lift. For starters I'm already disappointed with the customer service. I sent two emails today and stayed on hold for 20 minutes and never got any help. Maybe they're just having an off day, it happens. Anyway, I'll attach a pic of my question. I haven't installed the lift yet but when laying everything out the A Arms look like they need to be "squeezed" in a little to fit in the bracket that bolts to the frame. Does this look normal?

Re: Jakes 4" A arm lift question
There may be an installation video online. I put a 6" on a D's and found the instructions a little unclear.

Yes that's normal, I had a jakes 6in lift and I also installed the 7in double a arm lift and that seems to be the normal, nothing a little tap tap with the hammer can't fix👍

Re: Jakes 4" A arm lift question
I just installed the 4" Jakes kit last weekend. I was able to coerce them in with my hands. No hammer needed.

Re: Jakes 4" A arm lift question
This all got out of hand quickly... I bought the Ausco rear disc brakes. They don't work with 10" storm trooper wheels. So I decided to go to 12" wheels with a little bit bigger tire so I needed to get another inch of lift. Then I decided since I was getting bigger tires I should probably go ahead and get another motor, which I did just haven't installed yet.

Re: Jakes 4" A arm lift question
Ok so I have run into a problem. I got the front lift installed. Took forever to get camber and toe set and I still need to tweak it a little. As far as camber what do you guys think is right? Even, a little out at the top or a little out at the bottom?
I did run into a problem. It looks like the all sports 3" lift used extended rear shackles on the rear of the leaf spring to lift the back. The Jake's lift has you put the spring on top of the axle. If I did this with the extended rear shackle / mount I'd end up with like 7" of lift in the rear. Anybody know where I can get factory rear spring mount cheap? |
