Kudos to Dawg and Sergio...I think I would have burnt the thing to the ground and given up on golf carts!
Sergio is the man. He's a gift to this forum. I am so glad he's here. I feel pretty comfortable doing just about anything, but he's more knowledgeable about electronics than anybody I've ever met.

If You have a 16v-12v DC reducer, You should add the relay.

You can still jump the wires to make sure the relay is all You need to add.

Default Re: Brake Lights Not Working

I could not find the brake light relay behind the dash - I added a photo
When I removed the dash the brake lights started working, then stopped.
I could not find any bad connections. I disconnected the brake pad wires and jumped them and the brake lights worked. The brake pad itself appears to be intermittent. I going to order another pad.
Any other suggestions? .... Thanks

The brake relay is something You have to add to the cart if your 12v supply does not turn ON/OFF with the key switch.

The wires You indicated are the correct wires that connect to the 48v Relay.

The small 3/16" connectors are for the relay coil (48v) and the larger 1/4" connectors are for the relay Normally Open contacts (12v).

Depending on your light harness, the colors may be slightly different, but the 1/4" connector carries the +12v (when the key switch is ON and the relay activated) to the bucket harness wires in the floor board near the brake pedal.

Normally You either add the relay, or You need to jump the 2 larger 1/4" connectors together in order to complete the circuit to the brake pedal switch.

Unless your light kit provides an alternate method to deliver +12v to the brake pedal switch, the +12v power that is on the female bullet connector in the floor board (typically red wire) comes from this relay connection.
