Default Save A Battery Charger and Maintainer

Has anyone used one of these or any of the other battery maintainers? I only use my cart around the neighborhood and not every day. If I ever did run the batteries (which I do not do) it would be okay if it took a few days for them to charge back up again.

Other concerns or reasons not to use one of these over the traditional charger?

Default Re: Save A Battery Charger and Maintainer

I have them on my carts, but I'm not using them as my main chargers. I'm only using them for the storage/maintainer role. This is the first year I'm using them, and so far, no complaints. I still do the main charge with my factory chargers. I'm sure they'd charge the batteries back to full eventually, I just prefer to use the bulk charge of the factory charger and then switch to the maintainer to store it. I put D handles on my SABs to make switching back and forth easier. I didn't want the wire hanging loose under the seat, even with the cap on it. I'll check the voltage on my batteries when I get home if I get a chance and let you know how they're looking. Carts haven't been moved since before Halloween.

FWIW, I also have one on my lawn tractor and it has been starting right up when checked.

For the lack of a better explanation large high amperage chargers are needed to "PACK" in the energy by being strong and able to apply some force and shake things up which in turn helps discourage sulfation. To which these small low amperage chargers are not able to do these things and your batteries may eventually suffer from it. They are on the other hand great at what they are intended for maintaining an already fully charged battery at peak voltage which ward off sulfation.
