Here too. Ezgo and Club Car buy a lot.

The guys I have seen do it are used to stripping cars to be rebuilt so they have gotten fast. One of them can strip a cart to the chassis in about an hour

Kernal,

Side of the battery says A15, so I believe the standard is A for the month (Jan) and 15 is the year. Cart was built by Big O's here in PTC, but I bought it this past spring from the original owner. From the paperwork he gave me and our conversation, cart was built around that time. Where do you recommend getting batteries from here locally? I priced out 12V Trojans at Big O's and Golf Rider. Did your cart come with the 8V or did you get it converted?

Update on charging: Been on the DPI for 8 hours, taking voltage measurements every hour or so. Voltage peak was a little over 57 volts, it has steadily been declining since then with the latest reading at 54.7 volts. Not sure if it is smart to continue to charge?

With the voltage declining instead of increasing I would be nervous about letting it keep charging unattended. You could let it go for awhile if you or somebody is around to check it periodically. The charger should time out about 14 hours but I've never actually seen that happen.

I'll send a PM about the rest.

I guess your not eligible for PMs yet.

Big O's built my cart to my specifications including the 8v batteries.

I would also check John's golf carts, Bulldog supply and 3Guys. If it were me I would get Trojans. Wherever you get them, check the date on the negative post and pop the caps to make sure water in them. If water below plates don't accept it. Rare but it happens.
All things being equal I would get them from John. He's a local kid in business for himself and very knowledgable. But that's just me.

FWIW a friend of mine needed batteries last month. At the time 3guys had the best price and John was out until the next day. He couldn't wait against my advice.

After 11 hours of charging, I pulled the plug.

Amps never declined below 14 amps, batteries getting hot, rotten egg smell, and voltage that continued to decline from the peak of a little over 57. When I pulled the charger, it was at 54.6. Just not comfortable to continue with all the above. Seems the batteries are on there way out.

Yep, I agree. Even a good charger can't force a bad battery into a good battery. If the volts won't come up, they are sunk. I had some OK results fixing some batteries that were in the same condition, yeah, I left them on solar charge for about 4 months. Not a very viable solution.....
