Default 1997 G16 Lift Questions

Bought this G16 yesterday for a good price. Checking out the lift it looks like the bottom mounts on the rear shocks are in a serious bind. Is this a homemade lift? The diagonal bar on the rear, never seen that on the cart before. What is it? Stock? I'm thinking I'll take this lift off. It's not very stable and the wife and kids will be using it.

That lift kit is very home made. The bar in the back is called a panhard rod, it's job is to locate the rear suspension. With that steep angle, it would be very unstable on any bumps. Search the site for Jake's lift kits for pics of the modification normally done to keep that bar more level. Even the entry level lift kits are better than that home brew job, but they do use the same method to get lift.

You'd be better off with the cheap 4" lift--actually 5+" in the rear--. That looks homemade to me.

Great minds think alike

Thanks. I'm going to take it back down to stock. Will that level the bar on the rear back out like it should? I'm in no real need of a lift yet. Got some other issues to work out first.

You will have to move the right end of the panhard bar to the hole at the end. Should be good after that.

Got the home made lift off and this is the situation on the rear. What's this all about? Driver rear rubbing the bumper. Passenger side is ok.
