Sorry i didn't see this. You can check it anywhere... for best reading just remove the wires so you are only checking the ohms of the coil. Then check the ground wire for continuity too. And then for 12 volts when you try to fire it up.

Mine was intermittent. Would be running fine then for no apparent reason would bog and die. Almost got me killed one day when it stalled crossing a main highway. This was after it had been in the shop several times trying to figure out what the problem was. After that he changed the coil and it's been running great ever since.
