Default 1981 G1 premix ratio

Picked up a 1981 G1 cart for free. Not running. New coil
And a bit of wiring and 2 crank seals and it runs great. Question is the oil pump has been deleted and wanted to see what the proper premix ratio is for this cart using premix. Thank you.

You're going to get a lot of anwsers but I ran a quality oil at 100:1 and it worked great a lot of wide open pulls the factory injection put out 125:1-300:1

Thanks for info Spicyunicorn. My son is a sponsored mx racer and we run Maxima K2 in his bikes. I'll give 80:1 a try and see how it works/smokes.

If you haven't done it yet BBQ the muffler these mufflers fill up over time from not being ran hard and the bqq will burn all the old junk up otherwise you can get a lot of smoke on long pulls that's burning off the muffler not actually your mixture being to rich

Its a pretty sedate engine, 100:1 should be plenty for any use and more than the injection ever gave them. Normally if you ran one hard for say 10min it would start to smoke a white smoke, get very thick if you kept running it, then turn blue after another 10min of running hard and sparks might fly out you could see if dark. This would make a huge cloud of smoke in the area. Then the muffler was clean and you drove around easy for a little bit to cool it off and it would not visibly smoke at all. But now they are so old it may not do that the stuff in there gets very crusty and dry and may not burn up all the way, that is why some burn them in a fire. If someone trail rode it then there may not be any build up in there, the experience I had was actual GC use.

service manual for the g1

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/garag...ir-manual.html

I run rec fuel and synthetic VP oil i get at Walmart mixed 50:1 and it doesn't smoke. I do this because its an old engine and the internals are unknown.

I use 100 to 1 in all of my 2 stroke machines, golf carts, weed whacker, chain saw, etc., regardless of what each individual factory spec calls for. I am too lazy to mix 10 different ways for 10 different engines. So long as you are in the ballpark you'll be good.

Just a follow up and FYI. I found the proper ratio. On page 8 of the manual it says 150:1 @ full power. This is with the injection system.

Thanks
