It definitely needs to have one.

Yesterday, it was totally unresponsive after it stopped itself until I cycled the run/tow. Today I ran it for about 30 minutes with no problems at all, and then it started stopping again under heavy load e.i. -soft ground, driveway ramp, full acceleration. This time I just have to wait about 5 seconds or until I hear the click to start going again.

I tested it, and there is not a diode. Grabbed a diode just to make sure the meter was working, and it was. I found this one on Mr. Golf Cart. https://mrgolfcarts.com/products/clu...ropout-harness

I looked on the parts diagram to get the part number for the precharge resistor, and there is not one shown for this unit. Would this be just an extra precaution beyond the factory setup? Thanks!

What is the Controller model number in your cart?

The stock Controller without a pre-charger resistor will quickly damage the Solenoid contacts and probably itself due to the uncontrolled capacitor charging current.

Other aftermarket controllers like the curtis 1268 or Alltrax XCT use a different method of pre-charging the capacitors and do not need a resistor.

What's your vehicle serial number?
