Default E-Z-Go Medalist rear end noise

Hello all,

I recently got this 95 Medalist 36v that needs a little TLC to be 100%.
I changed the rear end fluid because it was milky which leads me to believe it had been in the water. When I'm driving the rear end seems to make a noise that doesnt really sound like grinding but theres definitely some kind of friction. The funny thing is that it goes away when I let off of the throttle. Could it be the motor itself making the noise?

Here's a link to a video of the noise I'm referring to. Some say input shaft bearing some say axle bearing.

Since the cart is nearly a quarter of a century old, it might be a severely worn gear on the input shaft.

Was there any metal shavings in the millky oil the came you replaced?

-----------
The oil has to climb the gears and the topmost gear gets the least lubrication, so it most likely has the most wear.

Was cart in a flood where it sat in water?
Noise sounds like gears but if rear end fluid was diluted with water good chance axle bearings too are bad.

Typically worn differential gears will make noise under load but not under coasting conditions due to too much clearance between gears.

As Jonnie. asked. Any shavings or metallic particles in rear end oil?

Did you drop rear differential pan cover to check?

Could art have been used with bad lube I n rear causing gear wear?
Brake drums pulled to inspect shoes and for rusted drums.

May want to do more in depth inspection since water had to enter rear housing from somewhere. And history of former owners habits or how cart was used, maintained if possible.
