Motor fry controller
I’ve got my self 1996 EZ go. I have put about 10 good hours on it before the controller (alltrax) would lose all LED indicating lights and halt cart. All voltage checks out, at random times and for differing time periods she will come back to life and give me hours of fun. I am in to many projects, I had it looked at by a repair guy. They want to replace motor and controller for $1700. Thoughts? I personally want to have them replace controller and bring it back, does a bad motor typically cause a controller to fail?

Re: Motor fry controller
We need to know which Alltrax control you have. Identify the drive system type will also help us give relative advice.
Early Alltrax controls could be killed off by a bad motor just like the OEM controllers. The latest version SR and XCT have reverse polarity protection and cannot be killed off by a catastrophic motor event. |

Re: Motor fry controller
NCX control. The shop would put in a remanufactured EZ go control. I don’t see the motor as being the issue as it’s been periodically driving just fine, off course some reassurance would be great

Re: Motor fry controller
The NCX control has no reverse polarity protection. The NCX was a budget friendly control issued for course use where no cart modifications or off course use was needed.

Re: Motor fry controller
The motor is 1996 original. I don’t plan on having mods, just a yard cruiser. Am I wasting money by only having the EZ go controller put on?
Is it strange to have a controller that periodically works and runs fine, other times has no LED indicator light Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Motor fry controller
$1700 seems salty for me, ESPECIALLY for a remanufactured control.
Based on your original post it sounded like the thing died and hasn't worked since. On your most recent post it seems the thing works occasionally. Which is it? |

Re: Motor fry controller
Works just fine periodically. Usually for days, then goes down for days

Re: Motor fry controller
Intermittent operation is often caused by an intermittently bad connection. One pin in the harness connector can be at fault. Ask them to send a picture of the 10 pin connector from both sides. If one pin is blackened... it is worth $1700

Re: Motor fry controller
I’m thinking that if the motor seems to work fine... it won’t be frying controllers... Somebody PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong...
I’m gettin ready to install a new Alltrax on that assumption and if it’s an incorrect assumption... I kinda need to know |

Re: Motor fry controller
Sounds like an activation circuit problem to me. Check pins 9 and 10 on the npx for positive pack voltage.
