1987 DS Cart no start
Hello all, I just put a 4” lift kit on my 87 DS. I know I’m not alone on these issues after a lift kit install, but I have spark, fuel in the new filter, new spark plug and air filter. I had a ground wire (black) running from electrical box to the drivers side leaf spring shackle bolt. The connector broke up removal of spring. I did not replace it yet as I get spark and lights. So it’s a “C” not an “O” . Cart will turn over continuously without firing. Have battery on charger. Picking up starting fluid tonite. Am I chasing a ghost for grounding as I have spark? I will plan on cleaning the carb. Dang thing ran fine until the lift install.

Re: 1987 DS Cart no start
Did you lower the front snubber arm or extend it to level the engine after the lift? if the carb is close on float adjustment the added angle might affect the float level and seat. Also, check the fuel lines for stretch or kinks and also the fuel pump pulse line for cracks or being pulled loose after the lift.
Pull the fuel line off of the carb andspin the motor over, if fuel comes out then you have carb problems, if no fuel then you have pumping problems. If you got spark then it most likely is fuel related. try to find it before you resort to starting fluid. |

Re: 1987 DS Cart no start
The ground wire coming off the bottom of the electrical control box is supposed to bolt directly onto the motor itself. There are two threaded hole bosses on the front of the block right there that you can fasten the ground wire to. I would bet that's why your cart won't start. Other guys have forgotten to hook it up after a lift and claimed that's what made the difference.
