1984 clubcar ds moves with no key
I bought a used clubcar that had been sitting in a barn for a long time. I replaced all batteries and took a picture before to ensure it was hooked back up the correct way. It was working fine for a few weeks and then out of the blue it started to go sideways. As soon as you pressed the accelerator just enough to literally creep, it jolted forward or backwards as fast as the cart would allow. Zero to 100. As the batteries lost life it returned to normal. Now you don't even need the key. With the key switch in the off position, when switched into forwards or reverse, jolts and takes off. Before the key had to be in the on position for it to move .I took the seat off and switched it into gear and it sparked in a couple different locations and started to get very hot. This is my first cart I have no idea what it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated this cart is not a pleasure to drive anymore.

Re: 1984 clubcar ds moves with no key
this is the most common problem with the 5 solenoid carts. replace all solenoids. Here's the wiring diagram. If the cart has been worked on before I'd ignore wire colors and just trace them to where they're supposed to go

The first solenoid and another one is stuck. Check for broken coil(s).
Unhook pack mains until you get it sorted out. |
