Fe290d blown motor
So here’s the story:
I have a 2007 club car gas. It started to pour our oil. I removed the motor and replaced the crankcase gasket. BUT........ in doing this I screwed things up big time. I completely snapped one of the crankcase bolts. This also damaged the actual crankcase that the gasket goes on. I brought it to local golf cart dealer they said motor is blown. Where do I get a replacement fe290? I found places that want my core. I know they cannot use it to rebuild it. What do you suggest I do at this point? |

Re: Fe290d blown motor
You'll have to locate another fe290 and unfortunately those are expensive. The 2007 is a clockwise engine which makes swapping another engine more challenging, however it is possible. Vegas Carts offers a kit to swap a harbor freight predator engine, but it will cause your reverse to be forward and vice versa. Not a big deal, however the reverse gear ratio is lower and your top speed will be slower.

Interesting. Do you have any experience with this retrofit?
