Default Install lights bar

Hi, how can I install a lights bar to my electric club car ? I have tried and I have connected the lights two cables (red and black). I have connected the black straight to the negative post of my battery, and the red one to fuse and then to the on / off switch. The problem is that it works when I turn on the switch, but when I press the go pedal, it turns the lights off http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/image...on_redface.gif
I am just replacing a previous lights bar that was damaged (some leds were bad), and I am following the same procedure, but it didn't work !!!

Any suggestions please

Tnx in advance

You really should install a voltage reducer and wire the light to a relay as well.

where does the red wire go after the fuse and on/off switch?

or do you mean it goes to a fuse BOX, then the switch?

if going to a fuse box, how is the box hooked up for power?

pictures would be awesome

Do you have 12v, 8v or 6v batteries.

Usually voltage drop causes a power drop.

The red wire goes to the on position on the on/off switch

I have 8 volts batteries. Wow and the lights bar are 12 v, and I was trying to connect from a single battery (8V)

Excuse my questions, but I am new to golf carts, and the guy who sold it to me dissapeared, so I try to fix it myself I am attaching some pictures to see if any of these is the voltage reducer. I wend under the cart, and I just saw a bunch of cut cables (including the original light bulbs)
Tnx for any help

You really should invest in a five (not four) wire converter. All power accessories need to go through the OBC as well.

You probably don't have a converter at all...I don't see one. I see your V glide, charger port and F/R switch, which looks pretty rusty. Make sure the actual contacts are clean and not creating a resistance point.

Our two favorite site sponsors are CartsUnlimited.com (NOT Buggies) and RevolutionGolfCars.com. The guys that run those places are very present on the board and helpful, so it's good to help them pay their rent.

Anyway, here's my recommendation, FWIW: decide what you plan on adding to the cart over time. Just the light bar? Stereo? Underbody lights? Fan system? Figure out the amperage that you need NOW, so you only buy ONE voltage reducer. If you get a 10a one, and end up needing to run 15a, you're wasting money. The four wire reducer needs a solenoid to turn it on and off, while the 5 wire just plums into your key switch. Very easy, very effective. You'll also need a fused bus block, but make sure you get one with a negative bus and not just the fuses since you can't ground to the chassis.

Hope this helps, I'm new here too but have learned a ton.
