2012 G29 DC to OEM AC conversion?
Can a stock 2016 Drive Yamaha ac motor and controller be installed in a 2012 G29 cart? Would it be plug and play or need a different wiring harness?

I'd assume you'll need the wiring harness as well...

The navitas ac conversion uses the stock wiring harnes. Was hoping the oem yamaha ac controller can use stock harnes.

Maybe it's possible with modification of the harness, the navitas conversion kit seems to include a kind of adaptor box?

Why OEM? I would probably go aftermarket for any conversion I would do.

Re: 2012 G29 DC to OEM AC conversion?
I was going to use my stock ac controller and motor from my 2016 drive ac cart in the 2012 dc cart. I upgraded to the navitas ac motor and controller.

Good plan. I have a 2012 and a 2009 G29 but I stuck with DC motor - D&D motors and Alltrax controllers. I converted both to Lithium using cells from Nissan Leaf.

I couldn't tell you about the wiring issues with that mod but I'm sure you can make it work if you study the schematics.

Re: 2012 G29 DC to OEM AC conversion?
Navitas offers two versions of the TAC2 AC traction inverters for Yamaha:
40-000627 - Yamaha YDRE2 Neos M - https://167b5b20-96f8-4bb2-baea-397a...70d45adc72.pdf 40-000632 - Yamaha G29 YDRE Moric - https://167b5b20-96f8-4bb2-baea-397a...5842cab3aa.pdf The YDRE2 Neos M main wire harness uses a 23 POS TE 770680-1 to connect to the traction inverter. The YDRE Moric main wire harness uses a 26 POS MX23A26SF1 to connect to the traction inverter. If you are moving an AC Yamaha stock setup from a new cart to an old style you will need to move the wiring harness with it or make your own harness adapter that maps the old layout to the new layout on the controller. See the above links to the wiring diagrams for both carts... You can figure out the mappings and necessary plugs and adapters to order from Mouser, Digikey, Newwark, etc to make your own harness adapter. |
