The question is what caused the rivets to break ? Maybe the ACR might have broke . Look closer at the cam when you tear back into it. I am only guessing though.
I have read where some disarm the ACR and run it if theirs is broke. They just have to make sure the S/G is tight. I don't know how long things last when this is done .
Once you find out and get this thing back in time it will probably run.
Interesting to see your results.

While it’s not “common” for the camshaft gear to break off the camshaft, it’s not exactly “uncommon” either. IMO it’s just kind of a cheesy design but an easy and cheap fix none the less.

Rmiller863 I think the gear only mounts to the camshaft one way, but it’s been a few years since I had a broken one. Hopefully you got everything good and clean and dry and used red loctite. Regardless, It’s critical that everything is lined up correctly, if the valve timing is off then it’s not going to open or close the valves at the right time and it’s not gonna run. The timing dots need to be lined up correctly. There’s a sticky thread here rebuilding a fe290 and while not identical to the fe350 there’s plenty of pics in there that might help. There’s very few differences between the 290 And 350

I feel your pain pulling a motor repeatedly. I had an ezgo a few years back I probably pulled that engine in and out 20 times or more. Stick with it, you’ll get it

Just like y’all said. Timing was off. Just got it tore down. Hopefully it’ll run now. Probably not get it all back in and together until tomorrow. I’ll update y’all.
