I actually think it is less hassle in the long run to pre-mix. My pump was pushing way too much oil into the mix, especially up hills. When I removed the pump and started mixing myself, the performance gain was awesome. All that extra oil also forced me to spend $150 on a new muffler because the other one was fully blocked.
