Default Comet clutch spring broke

I have a comet duster clutch in my G1. The spring has broke twice from what i can see, but has now broken a third time. Someone tried welding it before. I found some springs on e bay, but not sure if will fit mine. just says for comet clutch, not comet duster clutch. Mine is silver in color, and also want a little stiffer one, and see there are many colors to choose from. which is the stiffer color over mine if will fit? thanks for the help guys

You can make a jig and test it with a drill press and bath scale.

Here's some information on those springs for buying or "making" your own.........Looks like you would have to shim it to get it any stiffer, or find a different one.

Stiffer will make it shift at higher rpm at wot, longer or shim will make it engage at higher rpm on takeoff. Someone likely stuck whatever in there, only a id**t would try to weld a spring. You might find another spring that will work others here have.

If you have not modified the engine those make power at a pretty low rpm, it might go slower if it revs more, but you can make it engage harder for takeoffs.
