Default 97 ez go DCS won't do anything???

I bought a 97 ez go DCS that had a burned up controller on it. (The batteries were hooked up backward.) I replaced the controller with a new ez go factory controller. I installed all new batteries and I replaced all the cables with larger 2 Gauge wire. After hooking everything back up it doesn’t do anything, No click I mean nothing. The solenoid looks great so I didn’t replace it. I have checked the wiring and it all is like the wiring diagram from ez go. What could be the problem or could there be something else that burned up when the controlled went out.

Does the solenoid click when you try to go?

What is the battery pack voltage? 36-38v?

Does the reverse alarm sound when reverse is selected?

Reed Switch?

With DVM "-" lead attached to Neg. terminal of Right-Rear Battery:
Check for B+ on small wire coming out of charger receptacle.
If not there, Reed Switch is open.

If B+ is there, download the "dcs.pdf" file from the top STICKY: on the Electric EZGO forum (one menu level up from where you are right now)

Lets us know what you find.

Reading this for a second time I'm reminded that one of the first things to go when polarity is reversed in a golf cart are the Micro switches. They burn up like little fuses. You have 3 to test. 2 are easily accessed on the F&R, 1 is under the floor mat in the peddle box.
A simple continuity test is all you will need to determine if they are working reliably.

No, the reverse alarm does not sound. I am going outside now to check the Reed switch. If that doesn't do it I will check the micro switches. Thanks a ton for all your inputs. I will let you all know what I find out ASAP. My favorite quote is: None of us is as smart as all of us! That is proving to be true in this case.

My stupid reed switch had me chasing my tail for a day and a half!

When it fails, the buggy thinks the charger is connected, so it won't go. Definitely worth a quick check.
