wont travel forward, 98' txt
Hello, and thank you in advance!
I'm working on a ezgo cart, and the problem that im faced with is that the cart will move in reverse but not forward.. i checked out the directional switches and they both seem to be working. I raised the rear end and the tires were spinning both direction fine. The only thing that got my attention was that the solenoid by the controller was getting hot.its got the curtis card in there. Is there any steps i can take to diagnose this issue. The reverse travel is great, fast no issues, but when i try to got forward i hear the motor wanting to go. I even get a rattle and a shake. Please help and thank you again. |

Re: wont travel forward, 98' txt
Welcome to BGW!
Is it a Series (Series wound motor) or DCS (Sepex motor) ? If it has a Run/Tow switch on the controller cover, it is a DCS. |

It does not have a tow switch, just the maintenance toggle

Re: wont travel forward, 98' txt
If it has a toggle switch on the controller cover, it is a DCS type Drive.
This should be a schematic for it. The direction of current flow through the field windings is switched inside the controller, so if it goes in one direction, but not the other, chances are the controller is bad. The stock DCS controllers lack undervoltage protection and only going in one direction is a symptom that it has been ran with too low of voltage. An aftermarket controller like an Alltrax DC400 takes care of that problem and gives you more speed and torque. |

Pkg #505 has the 400amp Controller and the HD200a solenoid with resistor and diode for $455. I don't think you will find the complete pkg for less.

Men do you think he should try the black / white swap ? before he buys a controller. there is also the joint or wire connections inside the wiring harness.
Just a though. sonny |
