Re: 1992 Club Car problems after running for a short while
You can check for spark by removing the plug, put the wire back on, hold the plug with a pair of insulated pliers against the motor to ground it, and hit the gas pedal. You should see the plug sparking and hear it clicking. Since you have a new coil I would guess that you probably do have good spark.
If you have spark, and the plug and chamber are wet with fuel, your float bowl in the carb may be flooding out the motor (likely a piece of debris stuck between the needle and seat). Take the carb off and clean it out. |

Re: 1992 Club Car problems after running for a short while
Thanks again for the response and suggestions. The spark produced is indeed good, the plug and chamber are actually dry and the carburretor has been removed, cleaned and in fact replaced with one from a known working cart to test.
Its a complete mystery to me as to what is wrong. A local mechanic and auto electrician have both looked at the cart and neither seems to know what is the fault :( |

Re: 1992 Club Car problems after running for a short while
I've heard another thing to try is to clean the little brass filter on the front of the fuel pump. If it's clogged, it may cause some fuel delivery issues. Someone here mentioned it the other day. They removed the pump, soaked the filter in solvent, then blew compressed air through it from the back side and re-installed.
Here's what I'm talking about (red arrow): |

Another thing you may want to try is a compression test. Your engine may be losing compression as it gets warmed up.

Re: 1992 Club Car problems after running for a short while
Just realised, the pump is brand new, it was replaced recently. And apparently it has had a compression test done too, which was fine. This is a complete mystery!!!
