HAppy after Holidays and help with 4 wheel drive
I just got a call from my radio partner- the EZGO/BadBoyBuggy that you guys helped me to diagnose and fix, has been running perfect, from the end of October till yesterday. He has been running up and down Ozark Mountains since the end of october and yesterday. He and the cart were comin down a slight grade in gravel road right up from his home and he started to hear a sound and then the Front axle locked up and threw him forward-
now the front axle does not turn now at all The cart is not here yet any ideas where to start to look He was told by a cart guy down in south central Missouri that it could be the regen system? any thoughts? PS if you were replacing the wood in the seat bottom- what type plywood would you use? |

Re: HAppy after Holidays and help with 4 wheel drive
I have no experience with those buggies. But I'm sure some one here will be able to help. But from years of working and diagnosing I'd start by jacking up the front end and try spinning the tires one side at a time to see if it's a certain side that's locked up or if it's from before the differential.

Re: HAppy after Holidays and help with 4 wheel drive
If he heard some noise before it locked up, it might just be a bearing in the motor or differential.
Or it could be broken gears. Or the motor could be seized. I did the slide to a stop routine when the armature exploded in my stock PDS motor. The motor failure also took out the DCX400 controller. Regen braking may have been a contributing factor, but it isn't why the axle no longer turns. Motor has the be spinning for any regen braking to exist. I suspect both front wheels locked up, or your friend probably would have mentioned doing some pirouettes. |

He said nothing about pirouettes. However he did threaten to show me the bruise on his chest, he said he was glad he didn't have the windshield in, the windshield could have caused him a bad headache And if it would have happened last weekend, he was hunting in an area where they had 4 inches of ice and over 12 inches of snow and if it would have locked up coming down an ozark ridge, it could have been very painfull

Level ground is scarce around here too. Glad both rear wheels locked up on mine, otherwise it might have gotten mighty interesting mighty quick.
BTW: for the seat, I'd use Marine grade plywood. I haven't messed with wood for a while, so there might be something else made with waterproof glue. Probably the guys at a local lumber yard would know. |

Did he say anything at all about any new flouresent orange Tu-Tu he may have been wearing at the time? I've heard rumors that these BBB's will have sudden seizures when the driver has a TU-TU on. Even one in camo.
Just saying....... |

he was wearing his hunter's orange vest, however with fast stops it very well could look like a tutu or his pants filling up could also give the bloated look
