goes forward in reverse,goes reverse in forward

Hi there!!
I have a 1995 Medalist with the 5pin controller. The cart goes in forward when the shifter is placed in reverse and then it goes in reverse when the shifter is placed in forward. We already tried out a new controller. The wires to the motor are correct. Any ideas??

"Series" cart correct? Perhaps the lever system on the F&R somehow got one end flipped. The arm on the shift handle should point up, the arm on the F&R should also point up. If one end is flipped, it will still work, but with more resistance to shifting and backward operation. If it happens to be a "Sepex" cart (and drives forward while reverse beeper is on, backward when beeper is off) , at the controller the "F1" and "F2" wires can be switched to fix reverse operation.

On a series Ezgo swap the 2 cables at the 3 and 9 oclock positions on the F&R switch to reverse fields.

Yes, most likely just got the motor wires switched at the FNR switch.

I had the same problem.
it was my metal rod flipped upside down at the fnr switch.
