Hitachi 2 wire df / starts no charge

Is it true that if it crAnks , it will charge
My ezgo crNks runs but no charge.

Whats the deal with two df wires. Is red just get
capped and green to vr ?


The generator did not charge when field grounded.
Im assuming bad generator , but another post
claimed that if it crAnks it will charge .

My starter does not look burnt , is fairly new ,
But smells- should I assume i need rebuilt ?

If you ground the green wire from the generator it should charge. Unplug it from the regulator and touch to a good ground with a volt meter on the battery.

I got that part figured out from all the good tech
here. Every schematic drawn shows a one wire df.

I took the generator to a starter shop .
i watched six guys scratch their head as to how to
check. After multiple diagrams, they got it.

The genstarter is wrong to my cart .
bUT , they told me thAt if I reinstall it and
provide 12 v to the red wire from df AND
ground green field , ill get full power.

came home reinstalled , and magically , i had
14 volts at battery.

It works great now. I wired the red to solenoid
12v from pedal switch and it charges great!

So all this time , ive had wrong generator/starter in the
cart.

They even gave me a reverse heavy duty vr that would last
longer than the cheesy solid state one thats oem.
I tried it and got 14.5 instead of 14 at a lower rpm.
At highest rom it did not exceed 14.5 , so im good.

So how do I make this thing faster now :)

There is not one ezgo schematic that i could find
that showed a 2 wire df .
