Default NEW to EZGO and picked up a 1979

i picked up a 1979 EZGO to repair for my mom,
EC25 / 2PG engine
wants to start but wont pop over all the way.
ok to good spark
getting fuel
but i think the oil gas mix coming out from the head to jug gasket is an issue .

i also am looking for a carb rebuild kit, but everything i see is for a 1980 or older

any help would be greatly appreciated.
i have not checked the compression yet.

Show us pictures of the body, and the entire engine.

I don't see a 79 indication, but it is a 2 stroke.

Anything is possible at this point. If you get the pictures for cart around he'll help you identify the year, then your going to need to get some info like compression. If the gas is old I would recommend you start by draining it and changing the fuel filter and lines before you work on the carb....this may not fix your problem but it'll need to be done regardless...you wouldn't want to block new jets in a few minutes. Unless it's pouring out it should run with a small head leak maybe not good but it should run

Ok can you get those compression numbers for us? We'll have a starting point then. Just a heads up your going to be asked to check fuel flow at the pump output next and inspect the fuel pump diaphragms. Your also going to be asked to completely disassemble and soak the carb parts for 24 hours while cleaning them with a brush and a small piece of copper wire or a torch tip cleaner.....this should give you something to keep you busy until you get the head compression for us. Also read this in your free time, just in case

The dreaded internal starter generator...... That's close enough to call it a 79. I will do some research. I have seen a manual for that floating around here somewhere.

Since you have points, and a condenser, the timing is more difficult on this. I'm not the one to walk you through it. The last time I adjusted points was over 30 years ago on a 9 cylinder radial engine.

Your carburetor is a mikuni BV-18 the same as everything up to 1987. $18 bucks on E-bay.

vintagegolfcartparts .com/Category/ezgo_fuel_carbs ( I had to break the link on this because they are not a sponsor) This is interesting. They say this carb fits the 76 to 81 models along with the 88 model. The 88 is a BV-24 with the choke lever on top. I am not aware of the older carts using the same larger carburetor.

That blown head gasket is a major problem.
