Re: Monitoring temperature
I think I'm gonna buy these, and install the "probe" inside the motor. Gotta drop the motor and open it up first, to see where it could be installed.

I ordered the cheap one I posted yesterday. I'll report when I get it.

Re: Monitoring temperature
Here's what I got.
Digital temp meter is same one I linked on amazon, came in *F and has a 9ft probe length. I got glued it int that slot. It's connected to that switch on far left to turn on or off. Red buzzer light is a warning light for thermostat from the motor, the rest is a USB cig lighter with a switch for each. I used jb weld putty(rated to upper 300's *F) to hold the probe to the motor nothing fancy. |

Re: Monitoring temperature
I got one like that but I've had others that were smaller, and the 12v power supply was a nuisance. But it's working good so far.

Re: Monitoring temperature
Yes, the "isolated power supply" issue is a PITA. I have fried a couple of the super cheap things that way. They aren't forgiving either, one second is more than long enough to fry. It turns your super cheap deal into a not so cheap deal.

Re: Monitoring temperature
I built an isolated power supply for my ammeter/shunt. It was just one chip and a burden resistor, as the chip wanted to supply more current than my meter needed, in order to maintain good control.
