Is My Charger Working
Sorry for the newbie post, tried to down load a manual and search around but not sure and want to be good to my new batteries.
2009 36 Volt TXT, brand new T105's, EZgo Powerwise 28115 GO4 with Ammeter charger. Got the cart from a family member. It was obviously running slow and there was expansion around the positive terminals, batteries 4 years old so I put new 105's in the cart. Great power with the new batts, 17 MPH with a personality plug. Family said the old batteries were fully charged because it was reading 0 on the ammeter plugged in. I tried it and I couldn't hear the charger turn on at all. Doing the same thing with the new batteries. After some short rides over 2 days, maybe 5 miles total on the new batteries. Plug it in and nothing. Checked the pack voltage and it's reading 36.1 as it sits right now. That's read at the batteries and at the charger plugin. Should this charger be turning on? Is the pack voltage too high still for it to turn on? Aren't I at about 50% charged at 36.1? Thanks in advance for the input. |

Re: Is My Charger Working
The charger should turn on even if you plug it into fully charged batteries, but in that case wouldn't stay on long. Your charger is not working. You should not drive it anymore until you figure out a charging solution. I would start by probing the charge port terminals to verify that they match the pack voltage.

Re: Is My Charger Working
Charge port terminals are reading 36.1, same voltage as tested at the pack.

Re: Is My Charger Working
I have a high output industrial charger I can use to charge the batteries individually that has a 6 volt setting.
Is this the best thing to do to get their voltage up while I'm waiting on upgrade parts and a new charger rather than letting them sit in a low state of charge for a week? |

Re: Is My Charger Working
Yes, recharge each one indiviually and then work on your charger problem.

Re: Is My Charger Working
Thanks for the input, I'm new to the battery thing.
Last question, bring each battery up to 6.37? All are reading 6.01 except for the first one on charge now. |

Re: Is My Charger Working
6.37 should be your reading after the battery settles around 12 hrs. The charger should take it up around 7.5 on new batteries. 6.01 is about 50% .
Definitely need to top them off before allowing them to sit awhile. |
