Default Re: A tight drive belt, Or a Loose Drive belt?

You may have to adjust it a few times to get it perfect -- remembering that if the belt is too tight it makes it difficult the shift the transmission with the engine running. Tighten the belt till no free play in the belt and back it off some, drive some stopping and starting then into reverse to forward and if it shifts hard loosen it some more till it shifts easily. My up and down play in my drive belt is 1-3/4". I've found my carts runs and shifts better with this amount of play.

On a g16 gas are both tiers supposed to move when you step on the throttle, only the passenger rear wheel moves

They both move when it's on the ground. It doesn't have a posi, so one wheel could spin while the other is not, it's normal. Ever done a burnout in a car that only laid a stripe on one side? Same deal. The "open differential" used in most everything has the drawback that it unfortunately sends power to the wheel with the least traction (unless you paid that extra money for a limited slip rear end, not offered in a G16 Yamaha from the factory). But the news isn't all bad, if you wanna blow $300, you can have a limited slip differential in your G16 Yamaha too. It can be real useful for offroading/mudding. Ezgos RXV has limited slip, and it's carrier bolts right in there. This is not spam, it's totally true. No lies, I didn't get to 13k posts by spreading all BS.

Right if your brakes are rubbing a little on one side, the other side will turn when up in air.

the correct answer is the right belt made to the specs not some cheap china belt that is anywhere from a 1/2 inch out of spec either way.thats why we only use g boost best you can buy and they are made to spec.the cable limiter on some yamahas were because of the rubber mounts, without it you can watch the motor move 1to1 1/2inchs if the mounts are old it just to limit movement and sould have no tennsion on it when set.if it breaks the mounts are shot
