Default Advice for G1 engine rebuild

I had posted a bit ago about a buddys cart that has a piston with broken skirts.

He ordered a top end kit that should be here Monday, so I was going to crack the case apart and do bearings, seals and likely an oil pump delete.

Any tips or things to look out for while I'm in there?

what year G1? Jug bored and oversize piston or new jug and piston kit? inspect your replacement parts, measure if possible and check ring gaps.

Here's the best I can do for advice: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...experts-2.html. Actually it's advice from the smart folks on this forum. Skip to page 2 of the thread to avoid all of my extraneous BS.

Good Luck,
